These Songs for My Family were written between 2007 and 2012, each conveying a mood about a real child in my life. Most are published here for the first time. They were recorded in Nashvile with The Fewer Sorrows Band in 2011 and 2012. The songs are fresh, some deeply personal and all universal in their appeal.

Some are written just for children, designed to be heard by little ears and/or sung by little voices, often with a sense of humor. A couple -- Good Night, Moon and Thursday Afternoon Arrival -- are poignant lullabies. One of my grandchildren went to sleep to Good Night, Moon for months. Once, in her family's living room, I played the tune on my phone. She stopped what she was doing, toddled over to my chair, put her head down, and closed her eyes.
