简介
Everyone thinks Three Day Threshold is just some rockin’ country outfit that loves its booze. We’d like to think we are a little more refined these days, although we still throw a few back during our sets…OK, maybe more than a few. The new record, Straight out of the Barrel, is a collection of whiskey-drenched, bluegrass-influenced country rock n roll. We were fortunate to record with Adam Taylor, 2009 BMA Award winning producer who also has a Grammy under his belt, at world-renowned Camp Street Studios (Radiohead, Uncle Tupelo, Guitar Hero, George Thorogood). It all started back to a few months ago when lead singer of Three Day Threshold, Kier Byrnes and cohorts were flown down to Clermont, Kentucky to perform at a private party for Fred Noe, the great-grandson and master distiller of Jim Beam. After with the show, the boys were taken on a private tour of the distillery by Fred himself with a generous “sampling” from Fred’s private stock. It turns out the whole Jim Beam crew had been turned onto our music by some friends and had been enjoying our tunes as much as we had been enjoying their bourbon. Fred and the gang were quite surprised when they found out that boys from the north could make such convincing bluegrass music. It may be in part because while the boys of Three Day Threshold all call Boston their home, they hail from all over the map. Guitarist Zac Taylor is a Berklee College of Music alum originally from Atlanta, Georgia, drummer PJ Aspesi is a North Carolina-transplant, lap steel and banjo-man Evan Gavry is from upstate New York, front man Kier Byrnes is originally from New Hampshire, and bassist Johnny Stump grew up on the banks of the Ohio. There are over 21,000 Three Day Threshold CDs in circulation throughout the world. Three Day Threshold’s music has been featured in a multitude of TV show soundtracks and has taken the band all over the globe; from a Johnny Cash style gig at a Belgian prison to a rave in The Netherlands to a concert in an airplane hangar at a US military base in Honduras, as well as thousands of other shows in between. Three Day Threshold has been at the forefront of helping pioneer the alt country in New England since the mid-nineties. Front man Kier Byrnes is often referred to as the Godfather of New England Americana scene. The celebration of the newest release Straight Out of the Barrel will take place Saturday, January 30, 2010, at The Paradise Rock Club as part of the annual RODFEST Festival. This benefit concert is in honor of Kier’s cousin Greg “Rodney” Moynahan, who passed away after a tragic car accident a few years ago. All of the proceeds will go towards a memorial scholarship in his name, which has raised over $50,000 in recent years. Three Day Threshold is donating a copy of Straight out of the Barrel to everybody who attends. For complete Rodfest info please see the attached sheet. Thank you for your support of local music.
