Adelaide based songstress, Courtney Robb writes simple songs about complex things: love, belonging and freedom. Her honest and thoughtful lyrics can break your heart but quickly mend it again when they are woven with her purposefully delicate guitar and timeless melodies, creating a unique blend of indie-folk. Although Courtney was singing at a young age, she stumbled upon her passion for music much later than most, beginning to play guitar and write songs at the age of 19. “I grew up listening to an eclectic mix, anything from Bob Dylan to Elton John to Ani Difranco, I always just loved music”. After moving around country NSW for most of her early life and finally settling in Adelaide, she began to perform just 3 years later in 2003. With the release of her self titled EP in 2004, Courtney's reputation began to solidify with support from community radio and an steadily increasing following. At the end of 2006, Courtney completed work on her debut album, 'Unarmed'. Enlisting the help of some of Adelaide's finest to craft asubtleyet solid debut. “The name for this album stands for the way I try to approach my life, not holding upweapons to attack or shields to defend, but simply leaving myself open (and sometimes vulnerable) to new experiences and adventures”. Several tracks from this album continue to receive airplay on Nova 91.9fm as well as community radio stations in Adelaide and is available to purchase at Courtney’s live shows, through her website and digitally through iTunes. Following this release, she set off around the country, guitar in hand. From Western and Central Australia to regional Victoria, Courtney continued to gain fans wherever she set foot. Choosing to immerse herself in the culture of some of the most remote towns in Australia as wellas the capital cities was a huge source of inspiration for her song writing and something which she is keen to experience again. Recently Courtney found herself on the bill for Red Desert Live08 in Broken Hill, performing alongside Australian blues & roots greats Jeff Lang and Blue King Brown as well as rising country music stars The McClymonts. For now Courtney settles happily back in Adelaide, one of the places where she truly feels at home. Connecting with her audience the only way sheknows how, through intensely personal music and through a steady stream of heartfelt performances. 2010 sees the release of Courtney's much anticipated second album "Amid the Noise & the Haste", a 14 track CD which will take you on a complete journey. With the involvment of some of adelaide's finest, this album is a huge leap forward for her creatively.
