Patricia Carrión At age five her voice was recorded singing children’s songs under her Father’s direction with Milissa Sierra as a producer for the “Harmony” line of CBS records in México City, where she was born. She began her "solo" singing career in Cozumel Q. Roo Island back in 1979, undertaking all sorts of Latin music styles, going from Boleros, Ranchero, Pop, Canto Nuevo, Trova, etc, to her own compositions. Returns to Mexico City In 1988 where she meets Juan José Calatayud, a “jazz Icon” in México and he introduces her to the Mexican jazz scenario touring all over the country with as part of his jazz quartet. In 1989 they share the stage, as an opening act, for Flora Purim, Airto Moreira and Oscar Peterson at “Festijazz ‘89” She has traveled throughout the world singing in various countries such as Dominican Republic, Cuba, U.S.A., Spain, Holland, France, Italy, Germany and Taiwan,China. For over 20 years she has been with the very best of the Mexican musicians such as Juan José Calatayud, Chilo Morán, Enrique Nery, Mario Ruiz Armengol, Vicente Garrido, Leonardo Corona, Hector Infanzon, Agustín Bernal, etc. In 2004-2005 she records with Ben Willis in Chicago three songs for “La Tira” salsa orchestra including one of her own songs, “Quédate” Besides her work as a singer she is a natural teacher, many young musicians have been touched by her teachings. This CD “Mujer de Luna” contains 13 original jazz tunes performed in her mother tongue, Spanish. An exquisite mix of moods and emotions with a deep powerful yet sweat and mellow voice.
