Jonny “J-EA” James was born on May 7, 1987 in the Bronx, NY. Drummer, Rapper, Singer/Song-writer , EA moved to New Rochelle, NY, in Westchester County where he currently resides. James’ love for music began at an early age and he joined a drum corps at the age of 9. He was the youngest individual involved in the corps at that time surrounded predominantly by high school age kids. Determined... to become the master of everything he attempted, EA became a Champion Drummer. During this time, Jonny James met and befriended a gentleman named Namill, who became the older brother and mentor that James, who was raised by his single mother, never had. Namill exposed the young EA to battle rap in 2000 when the two would travel to Newark, New Jersey. As in drumming, James quickly mastered the art of Battle Rapping and became well-known in the area. However, something called him to return to New Rochelle and create a name for himself among his home crowd. Continuing where he left off in Newark, EA scoured the streets and internet looking for individuals in Westchester County and New York City to battle against. It was during this time that Sony Records approached James in 2002 with talks of a demo deal. Refusing to conform to the image that Sony had in mind for 16 year old James, he turned down the deal and worked harder than ever to reach his goal. In 2005, the realities life began to set in for James with the birth of his son. Determined to be a good example for his son, EA made significant changes in his life to alleviate his probation charges and have a more present role in his childs life. Sentenced to house-arrest, James immersed himself in books and writing to explore his life situations. Upon the end of his sentence in the spring of 2007, James had written 60 songs to express his feelings during his time of incarceration. EA soon met and befriended a local producer known as SJ, and coined them “The Surrealists” which was inspired by the French Surrealism Movement of the 1920’s. Teaming up with other local artists and producers such as Relly Beats, Mike Shinn, & Space Cadet Producer Danny G, EA recorded two mix tapes titled “Good Morning” and “The Homecoming.” Focusing more on the art and love of music than a deal itself. in 2001 Desert Storm (the force behind recording artist Fabolous) took liking to EA's Sound and Since then, EA has been on Multiple Desert Storm Mixtapes released, & even leading him to a Write up in the Source Magazine Due to his Success with his "Live EP".. James is credited with creating the “Tornado Gang” title for Desert Storm artists and DJs such as DJ Casssius Clay and DJ Don Demarco. Today, EA is frequently heard over the airwaves of New York City’s own Power 105.1 as well as Strip Clubs throughout the Country. He is Currentlytouring in Promotion of his Debut Album Entitled "Bad idEAs" .
