Caleb wrote many songs while in Kabul. Upon his return home to Baton Rouge he called upon seasoned musicians Jordan Snyder, Jared Daigle, and Karl Boudreaux to carefully construct their alternative rock-infused country sound. Since the band's first performance in January 2014, The Gillis Silo has made waves throughout the U.S. with their own brand of music that fans have dubbed "Country on the Rocks". They have had the privilege of sharing the stage with Florida Georgia Line, Eli Young Band, Easton Corbin, Trace Adkins, Tracy Byrd, Tracy Lawrence, Collin Raye, Mark Chesnutt, Aaron Lewis, Parmalee, Thompson Square, Dan + Shay, Billy Dean, Marty Raybon, and Jana Kramer. Their first single, She's My Hurricane, is in rotation in major radio markets throughout the South and their debut music video has been featured on CMT. In February 2014, Caleb Paul was nominated for Country Song of the Year by the American Songwriting Association for his song "Listen For My Truck". The Gillis Silo was the only country act to be global finalists in the Hard Rock Café Battle of the Bands in May 2014, and they received the most fan votes during the final round. In July 2014, The Gillis Silo performed at Country Explosion in Tooele, Utah, the state’s largest country music festival. They performed at Florida’s largest country music festival, Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam, in August 2014. They have played iconic venues throughout the South including The Texas Club, The Varsity Theatre, The Howlin' Wolf, Hard Rock Cafe, Tootsie’s, Silver Dollar Saloon Nashville, and House of Blues. The Gillis Silo proudly endorses and is sponsored by Pearl Drums, Spector Basses, Warmoth Guitars, and Soxfords.
