简介
The Weaszels are prophets of 3rd wave rock, a quintessential combination of sixties survivors armed with nineties technology. Zealots of the garage band mentality whose creative parameters are governed by the rationale-why not? No refrain too rude, no topic too provocative, from jazzercized autoerotics to the not so vague realities of confronting suicide on life's front lines. The Weaszels know what it's like because they've been there. True believers in the power of rock...pure, sublime and simple. Their prime directive is TO HAVE FUN AND BOLDLY GO WHERE NO WEASZEL HAS GONE BEFORE! “WHACK!” presents as a digitally downloadable collection of 20 select studio recordings by the Baltimore area band, The Weaszels, from 1979 through 1999. This legendary garage rock outfit was founded in the late 60’s by lead singer/rhythm guitarist, Birnie, who over the following quarter century and beyond, surrounded himself and served as a lynchpin for the band’s unique sound with a rotating team of singers and musicians (of various levels of commitment and competence); and it is rumored the band may still perform occasionally in some truncated form even to this day. The team saw to it that during this 20 year epoch, many of the band’s compositions were recorded, preserved here for posterity AND serve in part as a tribute to those Weaszels who have passed into eternity (bassists Paul Maisel and Rick Levine, AKA Ric Lately and most recently, “I’m Still Wild!” guest lead guitarist Kraig Krixer). “WHACK!” performances and recordings are credited as follows: Remastered and assembled on December 7, 2010 by engineer Bill Pratt, Vincent Tuminello and Jay Graboski at The Bratt Studio, Woodlawn, MD. “Meerkat Lookout” illustration by Connell Byrne. 1.
