"Bones" seems like a contradictory title for Waking April's second EP. The band's sound has evolved with more synths, electronic sounds and intricate harmonies: anything but "bare bones". Yet, the songs on this record are an attempt by songwriter Alex McKee to find the rawest parts of himself and lay them bare. All of the complexity is layered on top of emotional honesty and songs that, at their core, are simply true. From celebrations of love to dangerously dwelling on the past, to desperately begging for a hopeful future, the EP reflects where Waking April has come and where they will continue to go.
