Our next release explores the combination of sounds that have previously been rather unusual for our label. Outstanding Italian artist Chromosphere takes us on a journey through emotional dreamworlds on his debut on Facetten called “Traces“. The release consists of three timeless gems that combine elements of electronic music with organic instrumental skills, characteristic field recordings, and passages of jazz, funk, krautrock and more. Starting off, the title track “Traces“ does not only perfectly serve its purpose as an opening track for the EP, but also works as a portal to the melodic world Chromosphere carefully creates. Strings and Synths lead the way into this world until a recorded drumkit sets the tempo with some snare whirls, evolving into a jazzy drum sequence. One haunting melodic element after the other, they all melt together to a cohesive jam. Next up on the EP is “Raindance” which starts with cinematic field recordings of different vocals and rain. When the chords emerge, and the drums start to play, vocals commence to carry the listener into a very intimate breakdown, right before the explosive drop. As the drums kick back in, and the vocal shots fuse together with the rest of the melodic elements, the thereby established synthesis constitutes the most intense moment of this release. Ultimately, the release ends with “Eterea“, the third and final song of the EP. The track carries a similarly passionate and warm vibe whilst being the only beatless piece of the EP: a repetitive synth sequence plays, and a lead tells the story of this track. And for patient listeners, there might be even more to explore…
