简介
The four tracks on the EP showcase The Century's unique brand of smartly crafted, yet deceptively simple-sounding, power pop arrangement. Packed into each strong vocal melody and wailing guitar riff is a deft pop sensibility and innate ear for composition. As Rachel Milbauer of the Portland Mercury put it, "It's clear the Century has the unstoppable ability to play giant-sized rock 'n' roll. Straightforward Elvis Costello-influenced vocals by Andrew Hanna meld with quick guitar licks, solid keys, and kicking bass and drums. Their sound is the core reason we grow up to love rock 'n' roll—loud and in your face, while taking moments to be emotional, sweet, and sexy." The members of The Century are a tight-knit crew, a musical entourage, a five-person party. They laugh together, drink together, wrestle each other, and have been doing so, if not for centuries, at least for over a decade. Two of the members are brothers, and all are longtime friends. Rock & roll brought these awkward, rebellious kids together in high school, and they have been rocking ever since: from school talent shows, to basement parties, to legitimate venues, and straight into adulthood. Avid show-goers and supporters of local music, you've probably run into the members of The Century before. On any given night, they can be found running the sound board, tending the bar, or dancing crazily in the crowd. Johnny Brooke, of Portland Live, called The Century "some of the nicest people in Portland indie rock."
