2001. Four guys who were just over sixteen years old got together in a garage and started to play punk. Nothing out of the ordinary: distorted guitars and a somewhat heavy drum beat. But one day, they thought it wouldn’t be a bad idea to add a trumpet player to the band...and then they added a trombone...and began to twrite slightly more complex arrangements. Little by little they fell in love with swing, as well as with soul and traditional New Orleans music. Almost without noticing it, the band now had six members. Later they included a saxophonist, and three years later the band had nine members and a brass section of five. At that moment, they realized that they had to take music more seriously, so they decided to always wear a suit and tie when they played. By that time, they were nineteen years old and the band was called No Reply. Eight years have gone by since then and the band has now become one of the best in Spain. Their music is very elegant and elaborate with an incredible eye for the tiniest detail. Its roots lie in a thousand different styles to create a unique personal sound. The band attracts all kinds of audiences, which are fascinated by all the talent, energy and good feeling No Reply exudes on stage. Although in musical terms they are a long way from where they started, they are still essentially a punk band: a band which wants people to dance non-stop and jump up and down at their concerts, a band which wants its audience to enjoy every note they play, from the very first to the very last. And I can assure you they manage to achieve it...and wow, do they! No Reply released their first demo, Not on the Sunny Side, in 2006. A year later, they were signed up by Universal. The record label released their first record, Drunkology, in 2008, which garnered great success among music lovers and critics alike. In the two years prior to releasing their first LP, the band won a load of prizes, including: • 1st prize at the 7th Rivas-Vaciamadrid Pop-Rock Contest (2004) • 1st prize at the Moratalaz Pop-Rock Contest (2005) • 1st prize at Molina Rock (2005) • 1st prize at the Alcalá de Henares Young Creator Awards (2005) • Mondosonoro Demoscopic Band 2005 • 1st prize at the National Rhythm and Beat Band Awards (2006) • 1st prize at the City of Madrid Awards (2007) In addition, they have performed in the country’s best concert halls and taken part in myriad well-known festivals, such as: Reperkusión (2006), Metrorock (2006), Universimad (2006 and 2007), Tommy Hilfiger Sessions (2008), FIB Heineken (2009)… They have also had the privilege of sharing a stage with great names of the Spanish and international music scenes like: Oasis, The Killers, Nena Daconte, Muchachito Bombo Inferno, Franz Ferdinand, Marlango, Ojos de Brujo, Fanfare Ciocarlia, Eskorzo, Mojo Project, Reincidentes, Boikot, Macaco, The Locos, Chambao, El Bicho and many more. The band’s brass section has also collaborated with renowned Spanish artists: - In M Clan’s Para no Ver el Final tour, as session musicians in Iván Ferreiro’s record Confesiones de un Artista de Mierda and several performances with Quique González and his Band in the Daiquiri Blues tour, among others. Those teenagers who once got together in a garage to form a punk band are now a group of great musicians that leave anyone who listens to them open-mouthed. Their music grows with every concert they give and almost every day they get together to rehearse. Their songs are therefore increasingly full of new ideas and concepts. In a music scene that is becoming more and more risk-averse and staid, listening to No Reply is a breath of fresh air for anyone who loves music. In 2011, they decided to go that one step further and started singing in Spanish. Their new songs have now been compiled in the upcoming record Adicciones. Whoever misses out on it isn’t really aware of exactly what they’re missing.
