Released regionally on January 6, 1994, "The Schottenheimer Polka"; is a parody song based on the Kansas City Chiefs Football Team and their then head coach, Marty Schottenheimer. The song took the region by storm, prompting daily television and radio appearances. The Step Brothers, a K.C. based variety band, have also been the focus of regional print media regarding the song. An article in the Kansas City Star Newspaper resulted in over 5,000 calls to a local information line for details and a sample of the song in a two day period. The song's popularity sparked two television appearances on regional station KCTV-5(CBS), WDAF-TV4(NBC), and KMBZ-TV9(ABC), as well as repeated appearances on regional radio stations; WDAF-61AM, KCMO-810AM, KMBZ-980AM, KMXV-93FM, KFKF-94.1FM, KCMO-95FM, KUDL-98FM, KCFX-101FM, KYYS-102FM, KBEQ-104FM, and KKCJ-106FM. The Step Brothers were also invited to perform their song on National Public radio as guests on the nationally broadcast "Whad' Ya' Know?" Show. The live radio show is hosted by Michael Feldman on Saturday mornings and is broadcast to over 175 stations across the united States. "The Schottenheimer Polka"; met with the approval of Coach Schottenheimer who not only sent a letter of thanks to the group for their support of the Chiefs, but also autographed several cassette tapes and posters that were later donated to area charity auctions for sale. Several copies of the song made their way to Chiefs players and were used as a source of inspiration to the team at practice and in the locker room. CBS affiliate station KCTV-5, produced a video using "The Schottenheimer Polka"; and film clips from Kansas City Chiefs football games, which were also distributed throughout the area, with a percentage of the proceeds going to a non-profit organization dedicated to the recovery of missing and abducted children across the country. The Step Brothers, a four piece band with over fifty years combined experience in the music business, used their talents and resources to produce a song and CD that not only grabs on to your heart and soul, but also your feet!
