2H0017 is a multimedia project written and produced by Fires of Denmark, a local musician from Rochester, MN. The project is a psychedelic look into song writing and moving pictures while playing with rules on tempo, recording quality, lyrical ambiguity and optical illusions. Described as "the sound of wavves recorded" the music has a focus on sonic landscapes rather than traditional music formats. Blending genres of chillwave, alt rock and folk, this 30 minute piece is a time capsule of one weekend in Rochester on June of 2017. All songs were recorded minutes after being written and all video created in the same sitting with the exception of Synthetic Appreciation. "I wanted to take the focus off of the voice and use vocals as I would a keyboard or synthesizer. Whether it's processing them through guitar effect pedals or layering them in orchestral parts the vocals are not any more important then the sound of the bass drum. They all blend together to make one sound. This is also true about the lyrics. The lyrics in this are of great importance to me but serve the song in a melancholy, muddled way, which I hopes brings the listener to find their own meaning in them." - VS 2H0017 is a moment captured and impossible to recreate, a "love" letter to a hometown, a basement daydream and a artist attempt at validation.
