简介
Amanda Standalone is a Minnesota based singer, songwriter, performer, and composer of original music based in the American folk tradition. She has traveled extensively throughout the United States, studying traditional music in the oral tradition in the fiddle circles and contra dances of Minnesota, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. A seasoned street performer, she has been seen with her violin in the subways of New York, The Frenchman street of the Fauxborg-Marigny in New Orleans, The Eastern Market of Detroit, and the familiarity of her current location of Fargo/ Moorhead. In addition to her outdoor performances, Standalone has graced the stages of Minneapolis, Detroit, Pittsburgh, and New Orleans with her mellow vocals, her guitar, her accordion, and sometimes, her washtub bass. In 2008 upon returning to the Red River Valley, Standalone formed the group Amanda Standalone and the Pastryshop Girls with Abby Swegarden (vocals/guitar) and Minda Ringdahl (Vocals) whom she met while working at Nicholes Fine Pastry, a local eatery. Together, combining Standalone’s original songs and beautiful three part harmonies, they succeeded in recording the album “Millions of Blackbirds” with the help of producer Ken Davis. The album received local acclaim, receiving the High Plains Reader “Best Album” award in 2010. Recently, the song “Bird Flew Hard” has been licensed for the documentary “Paycheck to Paycheck: The Life and Times of Katrina Gilbert.” Standalone has currently released her solo album “Trouble” and is touring the midwest.
