Skarcadia is a unique album. It was writtten and produced on the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Ocean, aboard an 83,000 ton Cruise ship, while circumnavigating the world. Shawsax (Chris Shaw) was working aboard as a singer, saxophonist and guitarist, who recorded the album, on a portable studio each morning at sea. The album represents the banter, fun and friendship of the crew, but mainly the 6:30 club. Other tracks are written about surfing on shore leave, funny teenage memories and deep feelings. Chris Shaw also plays the pub and club circuits in Britiain, playing a mixture of Reggae, Northern Soul and Ska Music. Formally Chris was a professional jazz tenor sax player in Hampshire, before heading to Mallorca to perform for the summer season. In his younger years, he worked as a vocalist in rock bands and studied a degree in music technology. The ambition was always to make a dub reggae and album. Skarcadia is a fun, colourful album, not be taken seriously, just enjoyed.
