简介
In five years of covalent bonding since their fabled meeting at an Anthropophobiacs Anonymous meeting in South-West North Korea; Sincerely, Grizzly has surpassed any and every one of its three member’s expectations. Last year they were humbled to support the band responsible for their very musical existence, …And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead, on their entire Australian tour playing their opus Source Tags & Codes; embark on two headlining national tours of their own; share the stage with the likes of The Presidents of The United States of America, Bob Mould, JAPANDROIDS and Birds of Tokyo at their respective shows in Adelaide; as well as play the St Jerome’s Laneway Festival, courtesy of being Unearthed by JJJ, and Big Day Out Festival. Add to this a national tour in support of The Medics, an appearance at BIGSOUND, supports for An Horse, Violent Soho and Emperors, and the release of their debut EP Doom and Gloom the year prior, the band feel as if they are entering Robert-Horry-shooting-for-the-game-winner-in-the-fourth-quarter-of-game-7-of-the-playoffs-like territory. Their own Horryesque test is embodied in the impending release of their debut album, Halves. Recorded by Jez Giddings at Hot House, mixed in part by the former and in part by Brad Wood (Sunny Day Real Estate, Smashing Pumpkins, Placebo), the album is the bands’ attempt to understand and amalgamate opposites. The first single from the album, Us; or Optimism, finds the trio maintaining their trademark combination of time signature changes while walking an emotional tightrope, balancing on a line somewhere between an American high school football movie and a wake. True to their schizophrenic nature however, the bands' second single, Kafkaesque, is a nine minute musical novella told in the vein of its namesake, Franz Kafka. It’s equally tumultuous, exciting, and emotionally formidable; the result of which is bittersweet, philosophical, and intensely real. Sincerely, Grizzly
