She began singing at the tender age of 4 in the church choir. She began singing professionally at the age of 15, accompanied by her father and cousin (both deceased) to venues where she was not of legal age to enter alone. Later as a member of the group Everlife, Lady Dee was signed to and recorded on the eventually defunct record label 20th Century Fox. She continued on to perform and tour with other bands and as a solo artist. Lady Dee served for many years in the field of education as an elementary and middle school principal, where she was known as Dr. Harris. She sang for her students and brought international, national and local recording artists, actors and actresses to also share with and motivate students. These include Trez Songz, Dwele and K’Jon. In addition to recently singing the National Anthem for The Detroit Pistons and Detroit Tigers, Lady Dee has performed in venues that include TV dance shows The Scene & R.J.
