Erika Bonilla Vocalist Erika Bonilla was born in Texas; however relocated to New Mexico at the age of two. Growing up, she was inspired by all types of music to include; Country, Pop, Classical, Hip Hop, Rock and various types of Spanish music. Her diverse taste in music is evident in her versatility as a vocalist. Erika began her music career years ago as one of the lead vocalists for Los Duques, singing Country and Spanish. She moved on to be the lead vocalist with another local band singing a variety of music such as Spanish, Country, R&B and Rock. After performing with local bands for a period of four years, Erika put her singing on hold to pursue a career and complete her degree. Although she took a break from band performances, she continued to accomplish solo performances throughout the country. Erika began to perform throughout the United States to include performances such as; the prestigious Unity Festival and various Hispanic Heritage Day Festivals in Washington, D.C. She has also performed at the Central Intelligence Agency’s Hispanic Heritage Day in Washington, D.C. and the annual Hispanic Heritage Day Celebration in West Virginia. Erika's passion for music and performing was always her desire throughout her break. As a result, she connected with a local band and began performing steadily again. She began performing Spanish and Country music at casinos, local bars and various fiestas throughout New Mexico. In 2007, Erika participated in the Colgate Country Showdown, winning in Socorro, New Mexico, and moving forward to the state competition. In June, 2008, Erika released her first album entitled “Tu Nuevo Amor.” Tu Nuevo Amor, a Mariachi inspired album was nominated for 13 awards, winning Mariachi Song of the Year at the NMHEA Music Awards. Erika then branched out to perform various genres of music. She put together her own band also performing with a local Mariachi. Erika performed at various venues throughout the state; to include several awards shows, boxing venues, clubs, and casinos. Erika headlined Saginaw, Michigan’s Latin Festival, where an attendance of approximately ten thousand embraced Erika’s stage presence and extraordinary vocal abilities. Erika is featured in the August 2009, issue of The Albuquerque Magazine where she is recognized for her incredible vocal talent. She began touring with New Mexico artist Tobias Rene, and worked in conjunction with various artists at various venues throughout the country. In July 2010, Erika worked along side comedian Paul Rodriguez opening the 2010 Tejano Music awards in San Antonio, Texas. Erika began touring with Tejano Artists in late 2010. In October 2010, Erika recorded a duet with New Mexico recording artist, Tobias Rene. The duet Cucuroocucu Paloma was widely embraced receiving nominations for Song of the Year and Mariachi Song of the Year at the 2011 NMHEA Music Awards. Throughout the years, although performing primarily Spanish music, Erika's love for country music led her to incorporate various country songs into all of her performances. In January, 2011, Erika relocated to Los Angeles, California to pursue her musical career. She began writing country music and asked her friend/vocalist DeAnn Gonzales to join her in writing and recording original country music. Erika began working with Universal Music, BMI Producer Toby Sandoval. His exquisite talent helped lead Erika to record dynamic country songs. Erika formed Juliet Dreams with DeAnn Gonzales and released the first single, New Tattoos, released June, 2012. Shot Time, the second single, was released in October, 2012. After the release of Shot Time, Erika began writing songs that embrace her soft romantic side, leading her back to her love for Mariachi Music. While taking her time to embrace the romantic side of writing, she kept her high energy fell good attitude of performing both Latin and Country music. She was featured in Gladys and Rock Thiz magazine articles, a book "The Autobiography of radio talk show host Cindy Mitch, various radio talk show interviews and performed at various musical events and festivals. In August 2015, Erika began recording with "El Maestro" Jose Hernandez Y Su Mariachi Sol De Mexico. Her first single arranged and produced by Jose Hernandez accompanied by Mariachi Sol De Mexico, to be released in November, 2015. Erika Bonilla's unique sound embraces a feel good attitude of romance, enjoying life and living it up.
