简介
Katie Harder is a storyteller. Her songs have a disarming honesty and their recording is warm and intimate. It feels like you’re sitting in the centre of a room as songs wind around you with tasteful understatem ent. Katie’s 16 year career has matured over time to and restrained folk/roots sound. Encouraged by great songwriters like Paul Kelly, The Waifs, Crowded House and Missy Higgins, Katie’s music has that all Australian sound that pushes and pulls ideas and inspires her listeners to get the most out of life. Her songwriting gives voice to an earnest female perspective that contrasts vulnerability, strength, independence and commitment. Common themes include love, the giving of self, the struggle for balance as a mother and woman and living in the red dusty lands of Central Australia. Katie’s career highlights include performing alongside Claire Bowditch, touring the NT as an Artback artist, being shortlisted in the Australian Song Writing Awards and supporting The Waifs, Ash Grunwald, Blue King Brown and Jeff Lang. Katie Harder has released 2 EPs and 2 albums and her next release ‘Beloved’ is due in September 2017. Recorded by award winning producer Dave Crowe the EP features her band ‘The Artful Dodgers’. Latest Review of the first single of the EP: JESSE Katie Harder set to bring “Jesse” to Darwin – listen to the latest from the Alice Springs songwriter AUGUST 9, 2017 / SOSEFINA FUAMOLI The next week is going to be pretty huge for Alice Springs singer songwriter Katie Harder. this week, she releases her latest slice of music in the sweet single, “Jesse”, and will be performing up in Darwin to launch it as part of the Darwin Festival. Balancing performing and making new music in Alice, along with family life, is one act Harder has become extremely talented at; as a mother of four young boys, she’s got the perfect creative outlet in which to express her unique experiences, that’s for sure. And in “Jesse”, Harder has penned a lovely tribute to her son. As she explains: “We all want the best for our kids and in this ever changing and sometimes scary world, it’s important for them to navigate life with sound advice and solid support from home. From this background, I want my boy to grow up to live a life that’s free.” The single is taken from Harder’s forthcoming EP Beloved, and saw her work with previous NT Song of the Year Winner, Dave Crowe (Resin Moon). If you’re kicking about Darwin for the festival this month, be sure to catch Harder launching “Jesse” at the Darwin Railway Club, where she will be supporting Ali Barter on August 11th.
