Nancy Kepner wrote her first song in chorus class when confronted with a word as ridiculous as it was entertaining, "Weeaboo". When she jokingly said to her friend that she was going to write a song centering around this strange word, it was a joke and she had no intention of actually doing so. However, this song idea haunted her throughout her remaining classes and by the end of school that day she had most of the lyrics written and a melody buzzing around in her head. When she presented "The Weeaboo Song" to her friends, she intended for it to merely be an inside joke within the friends group. Upon hearing it though, her friends insisted that it was too good to stay unknown and encouraged her to perform it in the talent show of an upcoming anime convention. Everybody at the convention loved the song and Nancy Kepner came home with a first place award. Thus began an epic journey of performing in Masquerade after Masquerade, convention after convention. Because of the incredible demand for her songs to be available in some form other than youtube videos of live performances, Nancy Kepner has finally released her first five songs onto a CD fittingly titled "Album for the Weeaboo". With Nancy's clear voice, simple vocals, and the outstanding guitar of Eric Susoeff, Nancy's guitar teacher and incredible jazz guitarist, "Album for the Weeaboo" manages to provide a perspective of the anime fandom not yet thoroughly explored. Nancy's witty lyrics and clever rhymes somehow manage to poke fun at various aspects of the fandom without coming across as mean spirited. Although she seems to understand how wacky and odd her choice of song subjects is, her songs portray the playful mocking of someone making fun of either themselves or a very close friend. The affection she has for the otaku fan base rings out clearly throughout the Album.
