Sharing one of her early works, ‘Don’t Leave Me’ perfectly exhibits desperation in needing a lover to stay. Despite the trusts that were broken as well as the anxiety and trauma that fed off the thought of you ever being in love again due to past betrayals and cheats, you allowed yourself to fall for someone. Unaware of the open wounds that haven’t fully healed, insecurities and feelings of despair creep in when the relationship suffers similar setbacks. The song starts off with “Tell me I’m yours, there’ll be no one else, there’ll be just the both of us” an example of the constant reassurance you need from them; then it continues with “Even when the sky turns grey, you’ll be here to stay with me”, the affirmation you give and tell yourself that this person will never leave... but how sure can you be; thus ending with an overzealous imploration for them to stay “please don’t go, don’t leave me”
