简介
Born and raised in New York City, Amanda Kramer was exposed to many types of music from a young age. She started playing piano at the age of six and completed preparatory studies at The Manhattan School of Music. In later years she also studied harpsichord at The San Francisco Conservatory of Music, theory at The Juilliard School, and film music at The University of Bristol. In 1985 she joined the group Information Society and received her first gold record in 1988 for her work with them. From there she joined The Golden Palominos as singer and songwriter on two of their records. She has toured as a keyboardist with many bands including 10,000Maniacs, World Party and The Psychedelic Furs. Since 1997 Kramer has composed music for many episodes of the UK based "Globetrekkers" series which is now shown on PBS in the US. Kramer's most recent solo CD, Fallen Light Renew (2005), features Karl Wallinger of World Party and his ten- year-old son Louis reading selections from William Blake's "Songs of Innocence and Experience". The musical accompaniment features performances by Julee Cruise, David Catlin-Birch and Caroline Dale. The musical styles vary from string quartets to rock pastiche in capturing the genius of Blake's work in a musical setting. Amanda Kramer has lived in England since 1994
