简介
The modern rock scene is abuzz about South Pawl Record's newest addition, Fellow, who has been making quite an impression with fans both in concert and on the web since the summer of 2007. Moreover, in a nationwide Battle of the Bands competition, they were voted through to the final round by fans, giving their music with a "cool piano vibe", international exposure while further developing their quickly growing fan base. Along with taking their passionate and energetic show throughout California, at times sharing the stage with nationally recognized bands such as This Beautiful Republic, Downhere, Ever Stays Red, Kingston Falls, and others; even initiating interstate touring with a performance in Chicago, IL; they have received exposure through a variety of media outlets as well. Having the opportunity to perform on regional television, such as being featured on California Central Valley’s premier morning show “Great Day” on KMPH Fox 26 has allowed this distinctive band an introduction to a much broader audience. They have also received coverage in publications such as Christianity Today, Roads Magazine, Visalia Times Delta and the College of the Sequoias newspaper, as well as, airtime on physical and online radio stations like 94.1 FM "In the Honor" and New Creation Radio. In addition, Fellow was recently selected and performed at Central California's largest music festival, Spirit West Coast. Upon first listen, it is strikingly apparent that Fellow is truly unique in the current sonic landscape. Their fresh sound, along with their contemplative lyrical approach, as penned by lead vocalist Johanna Miller, have set their band apart with fans of modern rock. While Johanna fronts the group, often from the piano, she is ably supported by additional members of the band including her husband Jake Miller on guitar, as well as, their friends Zach Cowherd on drums and Jordan Dudley on bass. Yet while musically invigorating, Fellow also aims to be spiritually engaging. And, simply put, that is truly the core of Fellow's mission: to produce music that is not only a musical feast, but is also nourishing, speaking to the fundamental issues of humanity. As one enthusiast put it, "...it is very commendable to be able to mix awesome music with a positive message". Fellow, often compared to artists in the vein of Flyleaf and Paramore, is not content to simply speak to life's conundrums. They want to provide something that is lacking in much of mainstream music today: hope. Their songs touch a person's emotional pain and frustrations to show them that they are not alone - everyone goes through difficult times. However, where much music stops, Fellow has just begun. It is their desire to speak to hurting hearts with their music and point them towards God for healing. They want to bring hope where there has been abuse, discouragement and rejection. At the foundation of Fellow's mission is their desire to use music as a tool for ministry, to reach people and ultimately, to touch God. Fellow takes the listener through a journey that effortlessly melds musical styles while keeping a strong rock edge and, at times, almost a disarming level of intensity. Yet, while often dark and reflective, Fellow always keeps the light on at the end of the tunnel.
