简介

Observe & Control is an Electro-Industrial band, formed in Tel Aviv, Israel in 2002, by Tom Cohen (aka Gnuth). The project's name is inspired by the works of French philosopher Michel Foucault. The band is, in reality, a one man project, with Tom composing, singing and producing the songs, mixing everything in his Tel Aviv studio, while some of the Lyrics are by various artists such as Iris Idelson, Ptyl and Tom's brother Haim. When performing live, Tom is accompanied by two additional musicians and his own guitar playing. Over the course of a few years the band's lineup has changed with Tom being the only constant member. Other members have included Sassi Zur of Ultras and Ori Sagiv (Distention, D-layed) amongst others. Observe & Control has become known for its live performances, and has supported and performed with such giants such as Apoptygma Berserk and Das Ich. In his music, Tom is inspired by various genres and artists, from Skinny Puppy and Assemblage 23, to Frank Zappa, the Residents and the Beatles. These eclectic inspirations, along with Tom's own musical vision, come together to form the unique sound, that is Observe & Control. In "Utopia", the first album, O&C has attempted to merge together danceable melodies with thought-provoking concepts. The album may be viewed as homage to the rise and fall of utopian projects and their impact on the individuals who took part in them. Observe & Control has remixed tracks for some of the leading EBM and alternative acts today, such as Matrix, Regenerator, Sero.Overdose, Namnambulu and F.O.D. Observe & Control's Second album "Stopping Stations" is due for release in June 2011, with Tom's label, "Metoraf Records". "Stopping Stations" is a journey into Tom's private world, life and memories. The album consists of a wide range of styles, from dark 80s (Inspired by the music of his late brother, Haim Kyiem Cohen) to electro-industrial to EBM.
