Kyle Mischiek is a teenage Pop/Hip Hop performer, and independent recording artist based out of Canada’s East Coast. In 2012, Kyle Mischiek was a fun loving 16 year old who entered a local talent contest as a lark. In 2013, he has two studio EP’s to his credit, has collaborated with such stellar writers as Gordie Sampson, Steven MacDougall and Mo Kenney, has over 200,000 views on YouTube and is a confident live performer. No mean feat considering when he entered that contest, he did not play an instrument, had never written a word and hadn’t stepped foot on a stage. Brought up by a single mom, life wasn’t always easy. Kyle and his older brother moved around Canada with their mom looking for work, spending time living in various small towns throughout Ontario, Alberta, and New Brunswick before settling down in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia where his family originated from. As in most Cape Breton homes, music was evident at family gatherings with grandparents, aunts and uncles all playing and singing. In participating in the talent contest, Kyle realized two things – he enjoyed making music and he was good at it! Kyle went back to finish his last year of school, taking Audio Recording Production, Film and Video and graduating with a certificate in Radio Television Broadcasting - but it was music that now consumed his every waking moment. He started performing at every opportunity, honing his stage skills and gaining confidence with every show. With the help of gig savings, a music business grant, and a local investor, Kyle began work on his EP “Fallin’ In Deep”. Fallin’ In Deep is a 7 song EP that offers a glimpse into where Kyle’s talent may take him. It is a blend of hard hitting modern EDM tracks, 90’s R&B influenced slow jams, and some light pop-rap. Released independently in July, the record was produced by ECMA award winner Jamie Foulds at Soundpark Studios in Sydney Cape Breton and features co-writes with Gordie Sampson, Steve MacDougall of Slowcoaster, Dylan Guthro and Breagh MacKinnon and other East Coast songwriters, along with the contribution of some high energy club beats by Halifax artist Matty Boh. The first two singles “Somethin’ Bout Summertime” and “You (Wake Up Beautiful)” both hit #1 on the East Coast Countdown helping Kyle grow his loyal young audience (his female fans have dubbed themselves the “Mischicks!”) Kyle Mischiek may be just beginning to explore his future in music but one thing is for certain, it is a future destined for success.
