简介

NOTES FROM THE DIRECTOR Hyde’s Secret Nightmare is a bizarre, grandguignolesque and erotic rendition of Robert Louis Stevenson’s The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. I dedicated this movie to a pioneer of the horror film genre, Joe D’amato, who worked in a time when making movies was still an “audacious” and creative experience. I’ve started collaborating with Kristian since my first movie and since then we’ve never parted. Our partnership is really at its best in Hyde’s. (DOMIZIANO CRISTOPHARO) NOTE S FROM THE COMPOSER I’ve always been – and still am – a huge fan of the horror genre, and I am very grateful to Domiziano for the trust he placed in me when he asked me to compose music for his internationally successful movies. It’s lovely to work with him, he’s a great director and a true expert of Film Music. When he approves of the music I’ve written, then I’m sure I’ve done a good job. Hyde’s Secret Nightmare was something complex to make music for, but I wrote it out of instinct, thanks to the evocative power of the images. From my part, it’s a personal tribute to the many international Masters (Goldsmith, Hermann, North) and italian Composers (Morricone, Simonetti, Frizzi), who made this genre a great one. All the tracks were composed and recorded by me in my recording studios in Italy; I didn’t try to imitate a real orchestra through technology; on the contrary, I wanted to use the digital sound palette I had at my disposal in a creative way, in order to re-create a new sound floating above dream, reality and nightmare. In the movie, there aren’t any evident “leitmotif” tracks, as I preferred to use a simple three-note descending melody, which constantly returns in almost every track, but in a very different way. There are three bonus tracks in the album, namely the music I wrote for the movie trailer (nominated for the 2011 “Jerry Goldsmith” Awards) and two tracks taken from the movie P.O.E.: Poetry of Eerie, whose aesthetics – like Hyde’s Secret Nightmare – is in some way inspired to the soundtracks of the italian horror movies of the 70s.
