The Blue State (singular) is not just a compilation of music but a soul reaction to these times. There is no intellectual hum drum or rhetorical "fight the power" angst as heard on most political music compilations. Instead you are presented with what hurts and heals. What cracks you up and what's left to deal with the weight of it. The need to make love before entering "that crazy crazy" world out there and the sometimes desperate attempts to find it again once its lost. But all that is Blue is nothing new to black folks in america and neither is the music they make in reaction to it.

It features the underground sounds of soul operator music. Arists Hanifah Walidah, Mrk DrkFthr and Tim'm West are an example of new music coming out of the urban independent scene.
