简介
Formed in 2013 in Wrexham, North Wales, Kidsmoke consists of: Lance Williams (vocals/guitar), James Stickels on (bass/vocals), Sophie Ballamy on (guitar/vocals) and Ash Turner (drums). Following on from their debut EP 'Higher' (2013), the band have gone from strength to strength, releasing a second EP 'So Long, Emptiness' in 2014 along with a series of singles. Their 3rd EP 'Save Your Sorrow' is due for release in June 2017 after having been awarded the Horizons Launchpad Fund from BBC Cymru Wales. The EP was recorded with Russ Hayes of Orange Sound Studios, Penmaenmawr with artwork from local Welsh artists Mike Payne and Andy Garside. Kidsmoke reached the London showcase final of the Green Man Rising competition in 2015; after which they have played the festival twice and also supported the likes of Paul Smith (Maximo Park), Glass Animals, Satellite Stories and Widowspeak. BBC6 Music DJ Tom Robinson, Radio X’s John Kennedy and BBC Radio Wales’ Adam Walton took a liking to the band, playing a number of their tracks several times on his show and has voiced his support for them on numerous occasions. The indie-pop four-piece note some of their influences as The Smiths and Joy Division, among more contemporary bands like Wild Nothing, Real Estate and Deerhunter. "If you class yourself as a die-hard fan of indie music, Welsh band Kidsmoke will make for a very exciting proposition” - Indie Shuffle "Sounding something like Wild Nothing had Jack Tatum grown-up within the grey concrete confines of a city only slowly finding its feet." - GoldFlakePaint "Echoes of peak period Aztec Camera" - The Devil Has The Best Tuna "I bloody love Kidsmoke. No fuss or stupid melodrama, just great, great songs." - Adam Walton, BBC Radio Wales
