简介
Songs of reflection, love, loss, and acceptance of the inevitable, the self titled debut from Nicholas and the Pessimistics promises to resonate in everyone. As the song content brings something that all of us can relate to, musically this is an excellent example of Americana at its best, while allowing subtle influences of rock, blues, and even jazz to permeate. Singer / songwriter Nick Baker, has had a life full of performance from a young age. His history of writing and performing music in various bands with styles across the board is obvious. Nick's natural performance ability has become such an intricate part of who he is as a whole, his self expression through music becomes almost conversational. His writing comes across as true story telling in its most genuine form. Rumor has it that Shawn Steele was born holding a guitar. His credits include recording with Bootsy Collins, teaching at Loveland Music Academy, and music work in television. His playing is exciting, exact, and remarkably relaxed. A true artist to hear, and an even better one to see. Bassist Alex Fraser started playing brass in bands when he was a pre-teen. Eventually he picked up bass and fell in love immediately. While also doing a great deal of professional studio work, he was the bass tec for Bootsy Collins, and toured with them from '08-'14. Donnie picked up the drums in the 5th grade, when his band director told him that there were already too many sax players. He played in drum lines and marching bands during his high school years, eventually studying African djembe, an instrument he initially used with Nicholas and the Pessimistics during their early years as an acoustic trio. This album noticeably brings him back to his roots. Nicholas and the Pessimistics are a band made up of members that have played off and on together their whole lives, and their history shows. Their sound reflects a wide array of musical influences, which they filter it into an Americana esque sound. Together they create a palette that surpasses the typical, but at the same time embraces a sound that people immediately know and love. This is definitely a band that early fans will come to say "I liked them before they were cool".
