简介
Hailed as "utterly sensational" (New Music Connoisseur) the ensemble Non Sequitur displays their unique vision of new music on this shattering debut CD, featuring dynamic performances of Modernist works by Xenakis and Boulez, theatric and electroacoustic music, and a piece inspired by Karnatic singing. Weaving drama, humor, virtuosity, and visceral energy, Non Sequitur charts a dazzling chamber music experience for the adventurous ear. 1. Non Sequitur does not follow. Non Sequitur once weighed over a thousand pounds, but has slimmed down. I have a pet rabbit. Non Sequitur defies definition, bringing disparate musics together in adventurous programs that are strangely coherent. Known for their fierce virtuosity and uncanny chamber music interaction, Non Sequitur infuses its performances with diverse experience in contemporary music, improvisation, theater, and non-western music. The sextet (flute, clarinet, violin, cello, piano, percussion) formed as the Aspen Contemporary Ensemble in 1996. During their years together they have presented hundreds of premieres and are recognized for their ability and insight in preparing new works. Hailed as "utterly sensational" (21st Century Music), Non Sequitur has toured in the U.S. and the Netherlands and been in residence as guest artists at Dartmouth College, Harvard, Princeton, and Brandeis Universities. Since 2000, they have been the Ensemble in Residence at the Walden School for Young Composers. Non Sequitur is directed by Ha-Yang Kim and Nathan Davis. synesthesia 2: Le sourire de l'étoile bleue was commissioned by Non Sequitur. This recording is used with the permission of SOCAN.
