Q3 is an exciting new UK jazz project which was started by pianist and composer Martin Hallmark in 2013. After attending a workshop course run by the legendary jazz pianist Chick Corea in 2012 Martin was inspired to form the group dedicated to performing and recording his own original compositions. The music has a range of influences including Corea, Julian Joseph, Bill Evans, and Hiromi amonst others whilst retaining its own unique style. It is accessible and melodically driven and at the same time intriguing, deceptively complex, forward grooving and beautifully created and arranged. The band features virtuosic musicians in Tiago Coimbra (bass guitar) and Steve Hynes (drums). Tiago is a Berklee graduate, previously a member of Hiromi's band and now touring internationally with jazz, funk and soul outfits. Steve is an in-demand and virtuosic drummer with Dave Weckl influences. There are also superb guest contributions from Kevin Flanagan (tenor and soprano saxophones) on "Moment of Truth" and "Spirit of the Kasbah", and from Helen McDonald on "Remember".
