简介

In the early 70's, during the beginnings of what became known as the "Jesus Movement," a group of young, long-haired, bearded musicians, desiring to express their new-found faith in Jesus Christ through music, formed a band called Love Song. Using a mixture of rock, pop, folk and country, Love Song's music was entirely new and unique for the Christian music world. The music was fresh, sometimes radical, and yet, truly inspirational for a generation of young people searching for truth and it blazed the path for what we know today as 'contemporary Christian music.' Many called them the Christian "Beatles" at that time and their 1972 debut album is now considered a true classic, voted the #7 contemporary Christian album of all time by CCM magazine. Love Song recorded three albums in the 1970’s. “Love Song (1972),” “Final Touch (1974),” and “Feel The Love (1976)” which was a double live album from the 1976 Love Song Reunion Tour. In 1995 we could not get the record company to reissue the original records on CD, so we re-recorded the best of the albums and one bonus track called, “Take No Chances” that had never been released. It is, by far, the best record we’ve made to date. Everyone got be a part of the “Welcome Back” recording, except John who lives in Sweden. Chuck Girard (Vocals and keyboards), Tommy Coomes (Guitar and vocals) and Jay Truax (Bass and vocals) were the nucleus of the Love Song vocal sound. Fred Field (Guitar and vocals) was a founding member but left after 18 months to form another band with our drummer, John Mehler. Bob Wall (Guitar & vocals) entered the band in about 1971 and did all of the albums with us. Phil Keaggy (Guitars and vocals) played with us for the last six months of the original era of touring and recording. Where are they now? Chuck Girard lives in Nashville, has done many solo albums and continues to tour the USA, Australia, Canada and Europe. He is considered by many to be one of the true pioneers of Contemporary Christian Music and one of the best singers of our era. Tommy Coomes lives in Nashville and travels the world with “The Tommy Coomes Band.” Most of this work is in partnership with Franklin Graham, The Billy Graham Evangelistic Assn., and Samaritan’s Purse. He spent most of three decades producing records at Maranatha! Music and has started a new work to encourage the next generations of musicians, called, “Music Compass.” Jay Truax lives in sunny SoCal where he uses both talents for music and architecture. He plays with the most famous Surf Band of all time, “The Safaris,” and designs churches. Bob Wall has been active in the worship of Church On The Way in the Los Angeles area, writes great country songs and collects guitars. He owns and operates his own business to pay for those guitars. Phil Keaggy lives in Nashville and has always been an amazing guitar player and a gracious Christian man. He has done almost 50 albums and writes and records every day that he is not on concert tour. John Mehler is living, playing and teaching in Sweden.
