简介
Sometimes it’s raining music. Something like a window opens up, up above your head. And then light and inspiration in the form of musical rain is coming down on you. If at that moment you pick up an instrument and start to play, you think that what you play is coming from you since you are not aware that something up above your head soaks you with all these ideas. That’s how the songs for Photini’s Delos were written, in between Paris and Athens, and we recorded them in Andros isle and Athens. The lyrics are about chance meetings that can transform our lives. This album is carrying the echo of all the music that was keeping me company for years. Either Byzantine, Indian, dessert blues, gospel or jazz. It is like a memoire of hours of studying, practicing or experimenting at the crossroads of East and West. However, none of these songs would have ever existed, if it wasn’t for George Palamiotis. Wholeheartedly he shared his talent, and his rear ‘’threedimensional’’ sense for sound. Every song bears the mark of his efforts and commitment to the music, and for that I want to thank him. I also want to thank all the musicians that embarked on this journey towards this secret Delos isle. Although all of them might not be heard in the final tracks, without each and everyone we shared this trip, we would have never manage to come this far. Special thanks goes also to the engineers, that helped shaping the moment in bits and bytes. The last track ‘’Gangadi’’ is not part of this project but it is a live recorded performance of the group Eleusis, that we have formed with George many years ago. I do believe that that was the very first step I made towards Delos, and that’s why there is a place for it here. Also Gangadi, Deva, Kayarohanesam and Chandameryia, are all Carnatic hymns and I want to thank my teacher Sri Venudas for opening the door to this wonderful musical heritage that Carnatic music is.
