简介
Dave Shiflett usually writes singing songs, but this eight-song collection is just him and his Martin D-28, recorded live at the Watts Chapel at Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, Virginia. The songs were inspired by diverse events: a friend who buried her mother (dug the grave too!); his father's dementia; his son's military service in Iraq; a runaway slave's dash to freedom; the bend in the James River that gave Richmond its name, and a possum with a peg leg. There is also an arrangement of an ancient folk song that was 'borrowed' to make a Crusader's hymn, coupled with an old French lullaby. Cover photo by Brad Bangel; CD cover design, Evan Davies. Thanks to Mike Cashwell for making the chapel available. This release coincides with the release of "A Simple Thing," a five-song collection featuring vocalist Buttafly Vazquez.
