"God Is Love"....that's the message of my new album "Sunday Mornin' Sun". I wrote each one of the eleven songs off of the album and every song tells a real story about my life. For the past twenty five years I have been a country music singer around the state of Illinois. Not only is this my first gospel album but also my first solo album. This is 100% country/gospel! The album was recorded at Sedistudio Lexington in Lexington Illinois...out in the beautiful farmlands of central Illinois. The studio is owned by Pink Bob who also produced, engineered and mixed the album along with singing harmony on the album and adding percussion. The core group was myself, Mike Brake on drums (Bement Country Opry, Farmer City Cowboy Church), Kathy Brake on piano (Farmer City Cowboy Church), Marcia Shelton on harmony vocals (Farmer City Cowboy Church) and Amy Shelton on harmony vocals. Many guest singers and musicians were added to the project along the way including Janet Durham on harmony vocals (Prime Time Country Opry), Roger Frantz on fiddle (New Salem Country Opry), Kyle Ripsch on keyboard, Tim Harr on steel guitar, Nick Anderson on dobro and Ken Thornton on electric, slide and acoustic guitar. Along with writing all of the songs and singing lead vocals I also played bass guitar, acoustic guitar, electric guitar and harmonica on this project. Song one, "Sunday Mornin' Sun" is about my memories of going to church in Centertown, Kentucky as a kid at the Centertown Tabernacle church. Song two, "Ain't No Mountain" is a song with the flavor of country band Alabama. Song three, "I Need My Lord" is a beautiful laid back number that might remind you of a James Taylor type song. Song four, is my "letter to God" song. I wrote this during a dark point of my life....basically a letter put to music with some amazing vocals helping me thru! Song five, "Sweet Jesus" is a feel good song that is a fun to listen to as your driving down a country road. Song six, "I Believe" is my "God is Love" type song. Very simple with just acoustic guitar and my vocals. Song seven is "With Faith", a jumpin' little number that we had a ball recording in the studio. I think that fun comes thru nicely! Song eight is "Power in Prayer", a cousin of mine had a terrible head on accident with a semi truck on a slick rainy road down in Kentucky. News of the accident came that morning and we were all planning on going driving down to her funeral. But as the day progressed the news got better and she had survived the accident...just proving there is power in prayer! Song nine is titled "Sweet Harmony", what I wrote as a joke because I'm a lousy harmony singer turned into a wonderful bluegrass style song that is short, sweet and to the point! Lots of fun to record, lots of fun to listen to! Number ten is "I Come To The Cross", this was the very first song I wrote for the album. I wrote it in the front pew of the Farmer City Cowboy Church in Farmer City IL one afternoon. Very simple message, very simply done with lyrics that speak from the heart...."When I get lost, I come to the Cross". The last song on the album is titled "In Eternity (Tyler's Song) and this song is dedicate to an old school friend of mine and his beautiful wife for their amazing love, courage and strength while deal with the loss of their infant child. My prayer was to make a song that would tell the parents that even though their son's life on earth was very short, some day the will reunite and this time for eternity. It was the perfect song to end the album..."God is Love"!!
