Cape Town born Evelyn Hart is a performer emerging from many different rooms. From the intimate space of a writer, the alcove of an artist and the well-lived in hollows of a craftswoman, she comes with songs that are unique, perhaps in that she possesses a pure, gentle quality alongside a deeper, more darkly emotional sound. To watch her perform is to be brought to stillness.

Although raised in South Africa, it was through her many trips to the United Kingdom that she began to develop a love for folk and European-inspired music. The natural beauty and rich heritage of both locations has inspired a descriptive and fable-like style of writing, able to paint pictures and inspire dreams. Her debut collection of music, entitled Forged by the Sea, takes one on a cinematic journey that includes orchestral as well as modern influences, ending with piano and the simple beauty of her pure, ethereal voice.
