These instrumental compositions represent, in most cases, a simultaneous composition and recording process. Each track was recorded during a 2 week period in April 2017 in or near Scott & Sheryl Simpson’s cabin in Spearfish Canyon. Some of the tracks were recorded inside, some were recorded outside, lending each piece the immediacy and texture of a field recording, often including the ambient sounds of birds, wind, the creek, trees, leaves, a passing motorcycle, and of course, contributions from Scott’s ever-present dogs Abbey and Ellie. This album is dedicated to Dave and Pat Simpson (Mom and Dad) who have made possible our multi-generational Spearfish Canyon home.
