Ethan Shaw honed his skills as a multi-instrumentalist/producer over two decades in the music industry. A Berklee College of Music alumni, he has performed on over 25 records and co- produced several albums on the Bloodchili record label. He has performed with Buck Owens, Dwight Yoakum, Radney Foster, Marty Stuart, the Mavericks, Wayne Hancock, and the Derailers, among others. He has performed on Late Night with Conan O'Brian, MTV, and CMT. He has performed in almost every state in the USA, and several countries in Europe. Ethan is a founding member of Chili Cold Blood and the Moonhangers, and has produced and engineered every album on their record label since 2010. Primarily a steel guitarist these days, Ethan is completely self-taught on the steel, except for a lesson with the legendary Herb Remington (of Bob Wills fame). He also sings and plays upright bass, guitar, trumpet, and drums on this album (and steel guitar through a spinning Leslie speaker, easily mistaken for an organ). Ethan has a great love of jazz and swing, and on this album you will hear influences of Nat King Cole, Vance Terry, Les Paul, Buddy Emmons, Miles Davis, Herb Remington, George Shearing, Bob Wills, Billy Jack Wills, Curley Chalker, and Joaquin Murphey, among others. Using mostly a jazz trio format, Ethan produced, engineered, wrote, and performed every song on every instrument on this album. Cocktail Hour is highly recommended to all fans of jazz, swing, western swing, and anyone looking for something interesting and unique!
