- "these kids are definitely about the rock, and that¹s where they shine. Don¹t try to be cool, quit the sneer in the lyrics. Forget about the dynamics and just go all out. Rock on!" (regarding parts of my bicycle... in Big Takeover 5/02) - "Taggart's swaggering debut is a melodic mixture of emo, garage, punk, and alternative that's just one hit song away from a commercial breakthrough. " (Amplifier Magazine 3/02) FDR is proud to announce the debut release by Taggart titled, parts of my bicycle are made of chrome! Taggart is a Philadelphia, PA band with a garage ethic who rock in the vein of the Pixies and Superchunk with melodies and lyrical content that will bring to mind the Kinks and the Replacements. The band has been making a name for themselves in the Philadelphia rock scene and has been appearing regularly at the historic Khyber for the past year. They also recently contributed a true-to-form punk rock rendition of "Don't Ask Why" to the 2000 FDR release, Left of the Dial: a Pop Tribute to the Replacements, earning them a "hurrah" from Jack Rabid in the Big Takeover (#47) for capturing "the controlled fast, chaotic, slop bucket charm" of the original. Recorded at Sonic Studios in Philadelphia, parts of my bicycle are made of chrome, captures the raw energy of Taggart's live sound. The songs range from melodic, quirky guitar-rock to brooding noisy blasts of pugnacious indie-rock. Like their live shows, energy levels for the recording of parts... were set to "11".
