"I just wanted to do my version of some of my favorite songs" Born in Detroit, Charles Lee grew up in the era of Motown. As a self-taught singer his lessons consisted of singing along with the records of Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, and countless others. Charles developed a style of his own with a multi-octave vocal range. His passion for the music can be seen and felt during his performances. Being a songwriter came next and resulted in an award winning original composition. His vocal talents lead him to cross paths and perform alongside several nationally and internationally known recording artists, including Jeff Kimpland (formerly with “Journey”), “The Temptations”, and Charlie Thomas, formerly of “The Drifters”. An accomplished vocalist, Charles Lee continues to perform and develop his vocal instrument with a new album release coming this summer 2017. Charles performs at various venues. His resume includes nightclubs, country clubs, weddings, receptions, open houses, coffeehouses, city festivals, county fairs, private parties and reunions. He has also performed for community benefits and fund-raisers, retirement facilities, public concerts, dances and dinner cruise lines. He has appeared on various television and radio shows, both as a guest and as a host. His performance also includes bits of trivia that helps the audience understand the origin of urban blues and the influence of the Motown sound on America’s musical history. Offering a variety of covers, as well as original compositions, Charles Lee’s repertoire includes the songs performed by some of the world’s greatest entertainers. His song list includes Broadway tunes, urban blues, classic love songs, the snappy sound of rhythm and blues, and the truly one of a kind sound of Motown.
