This album was the fortunate result of winning some studio time in Levin, New Zealand. I am forever grateful to you guys as I wasn't playing my own music anywhere before this recording session. It's a little raw in places, and some of the songs have since grown and changed, but here they are as I initially wrote them, with some great backing from Tsunami Sound Studios :) About The Tracks... 1. Journey © David Shanhun This is a little tune about the adventure of life, and getting out of your comfort zone. Sometimes life’s hurdles turn into the best rewards. 2. Tonight © David Shanhun I wrote the guitar part for this song while at Uni in Wellington, and then it took 3 more years to finally get it to what you hear now. It’s me fantasising about a girl I met, although never having the guts to ask her out. 3. No Reason © David Shanhun I woke up one night about 3am with the chorus for this song in my head. It’s about being frustrated in life, when on the surface everything seems to be going fine, but inside your screaming. 4. Night-time Candles © David Shanhun I wrote this in my car, sitting in the hills above Palmerston North looking back at the city lights and lamenting the breakup of my highschool sweetheart and I. 5. Hold You © David Shanhun This was written at Uni when I thought I’d found love sweet love again... she dumped me two weeks later so perhaps it wasn’t quite as good as I’d thought! 6. By The Sea © David Shanhun I’ve always loved the sea. Getting out surfing or being around the ocean always inspires and refreshes me. 7. Whiskey and Red Wine © David Shanhun Sometimes you need a potent mix to quell inner demons. 8. Sunshine and Rain © David Shanhun There are two sides to every coin and in the end you have to take both or nothing. 9. Thinking of You © David Shanhun I wrote this in an apartment in Melbourne and it just flowed. It reminds me of friends and family, but most especially now I always think of my great mate Russell. He was larger than life and I dearly miss him. R.I.P. Russell. 10.
