A throwback to classic jazz artists like Billie Holiday and Carmen McRae, Persistence of Memory is an emotional experience that leaves listeners satisfied. This sampler boasts poetically crafted lyrics and jazz/soul-inspired grooves that are balanced with the catchy melodies that appeal to a more contemporary audience. “Persistence of Memory was a catharsis for me. These songs represent a time in my life when I was experiencing some complicated emotions that I didn’t quite understand or knew how to handle. This set is very personal and emotional and I hope that whether it’s through the lyrics or the melodies, it will resonate with my audience. I hope my listeners will relate to these songs and find their own feelings and experiences reflected in them. Paulina Cameron is a young singer-songwriter from San Diego, California. She started her studies of piano and vocal performance during her elementary school years. She was drawn to songwriting at a young age, which allowed her style the opportunity to mature in many ways. Her influences, Billie Holiday, The Beatles, and Carmen McRae, as well as more contemporary artists, have infused her style with a throwback nostalgia that remains innovative in the contemporary scene. Dedicated to a career in music, Paulina has performed in a number of San Diego venues, also recording and publishing her music – this is her second EP after ‘Lovely Tragedy,’ released in 2009. She is currently enrolled in the Popular Music program at the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California.
