The Merry Innocents is a collaboration between two songbirds active in the Bay Area music scene. Chelsea Coleman and Madeline Tasquin met each other at The Starry Plough in Berkeley, and immediately started making music together. They had been singing harmonies together for about a year, before getting the crazy idea to make a Christmas album. They wanted to bring the warm and rich Christmas traditions they had grown up with into the homes and hearts of their friends and family, to create a safe haven from the stressful hustle and bustle of christmas consumerism. Chelsea and Madeline created an album together called "The Merry Innocents" in the winter of 2012, and filled it with traditional and (tastefully) non-traditional songs. A world apart from the polished commercial gloss of Christmas muzak, this collection is beautifully arranged, sincerely sung and features some tasty guest appearances by Graham Patzner (Whiskerman, Gospel Flats) on violin and Dan Cantrell on musical saw.
