简介

Mozak bore witness to poverty, ignorance, disease, corruption, blood diamonds and genocidal wars raging all over the continent. The immense suffering ignited the activist in his soul that transcends in his "voice." Mozak (aka George Efojie) now resides in Atlanta, Georgia. But this artist's, journey began in Esan, Nigeria, where he was born to a family of musicians Mozak’s father George Efojie Sr. was a prominent local musician. His uncle, the late Sunny Okosun, was also a popular African musician who influenced Mozak's musical style. At a young age, Mozak discovered his "voice." As a teenager Mozak sensed he could change the world around him with his "voice." Fulfilling his musical quest meant leaving his humble village and navigating a metropolis - the city of Lagos, Nigeria. Surviving on the streets of Lagos, alone with no family or friends, he saved some money to buy a guitar and taught himself how to play it. Eventually with a little help from new friends Mozak mastered the instrument furthering him on his musical quest. Hanging out at Fela Kuti’s club (the “Shrine”) Mozak befriend guitar master Majek Fashek. Fela Kuti’s band needed a new guitar player - just the break he needed. With a small dream as his motivation - Mozak ultimately became a member of the legendary Fela Kuti and Egypt 80 band for four years. In the 90’s, Fela Kuti and the Egypt 80 band embarked on a 40 city tour which took them to the US. Mozak saw opportunity in the USA, so he said good-bye to his band mates. Mozak played with several bands traveling to New York, Los Angeles, Nashville and Atlanta. In 2007, Mozak was signed to American music label Cabaña Entertainment. The president of Cabana Entertainment liked Mozak’s fusion sound and the opportunity to use his "voice" for change. Mozak’s musical style can be defined as a fusion of Afrobeat, Reggae and Jazz. His influences obviously include his first mentors the late Fela Kuti and Jamaican Peter Tosh. Additionally, legendary artists Lucky Dube and Sunny Okosun.
