简介
Sequential Dream’s fifth album, titled Legacy (“L3G4CY”), is so named in honor of the passing of the late Edgar Froese of the celebrated Berlin School EM style composer, musician, and producer of the genre-defining ensemble Tangerine Dream. Mr. Froese is quoted as saying “There is no death, there is just a change of our cosmic address”. And it’s with this in mind that the L3G4CY album cover and album track titles portray this new cosmic address. Though there is no substituting the creative talent of the late Mr. Froese, listeners will recognize musical sounds and idioms that are very familiar to the TD or EF listener. L3G4CY includes contributions from recurring visiting artists Johan Tronestam (Finland), Synthesist (Chris Pearre, USA), Austria’s Celestial View, and the album’s producer Canada’s Kuutana (who co-composed collaboration tracks as well as non-collaboration tracks). New to this fifth Sequential Dreams album is Altocirrus (Sean and Clare McCarthy). Also new to the Sequential Dreams sound is a track contributed from the Midnight Airship project, from Borders Edge Records owner and producer Ron Charron. Pink Floyd listeners will recognise elements of their style on the “Orbital Maneuvers” collaboration track, which combines elements of sounds inspired both by the Floyd sound and Tangerine Dream's. Track Descriptions Legacy The intro and title track of the album, “Legacy” composed by Kuutana and was primarily performed using fully analog synthesizers in a style that is reminiscent of 80’s era Tangerine Dream. The Sea of Stars A collaboration between Finland’s Johan Tronestam and Canada’s Kuutana, “The Sea of Stars” continues the tribute to the Tangerine Dream sound with an arrangement of rich synthesizer sequences punctuated by space ambiances and true electric guitar riffs. Spirit Trance A collaboration between USA’s Synthesist (Chris Pearre) and Canada’s Kuutana, “Spirit Trance” adopts a sound that should be very familiar to those who enjoyed Tangerine Dreams’ “Exit” and “White Eagle” albums. HyperSpace A collaboration by new Sequential Dreams contributor Altocirrus (Sean and Clare McCarthy) and Canada’s Kuutana, HyperSpace combines a rich set of space ambiance, synthesizer sequences, and electric guitar with musical idioms identifiable from across the pre-2000’s Tangerine Dream influences. Light Years Away This track is a musical interlude that blends Tangerine Dream influences with some more contemporary ChillStep sounds and beats. Blue Galaxy A collaboration between Austria’s Celestial View and Canada’s Kuutana, “Blue Galaxy” has sequences and sounds reminiscent of some of Tangerine Dreams’ post early ‘2000s era. A lovely and upbeat track that may also appeal to chill genre listeners. Escape Velocity A solo piece composed and performed by Canada’s Kuutana, “Escape Velocity” is a “New Berlin School” genre electronic rock track that presents sounds that should be familiar to Tangerine Dream listeners of the “Virgin” and “Blue” years eras. This is the L3G4CY albums’ longest track at nearly 14 minutes. Orbital Maneuvers A track taken from the Canada’s Midnight Airship project which attempts to include sounds influenced by Pink Floyd with Sequential Dream’s Tangerine Dream influenced musical idioms. Picture floating in zero-g in orbit around an alien planet! Light Beyond the Abyss In “Light Beyond the Abyss”, Canada’s Kuutana weaves a tapestry of Japanese shakuhachi flute over a backdrop of sequenced synthesizers and melodic electric guitar. A backdrop of ethereal voices and space ambiance give the whole a slight otherworldly feel. The Phoenix This track is an alternate path stemming from original works on the track "Fire" originally released on The Cosmic Touch album. Although "Fire" was a co-production between composers Kuutana and Daniel Wolf, "The Phoenix" starts from tracks originally composed by Kuutana, the resulting piece taking an alternate path, leading to a distinct version, yet inspired by the original theme. This is the first published appearance of "The Phoenix" as of yet unpublished until the "Wavefront" Borders Edge Records 2014 compilation album. This is a newly reformulated version of the track. credits A Sequential Dreams and Borders Edge Records production, with guest artists Johan Tronestam, Altocirrus (Sean and Clare McCarthy), Synthesist (Chris Pearre), Celestial View, Midnight Airship, and Kuutana. Final arrangements, mastering, and production by Borders Edge Records' Ron Charron. Mastered at Borders Edge Music Studio in Canada. For more information visit bordersedge.com
