Jacob grew up in Stockholm in a home constantly filled with music. He started playing the guitar and the trumpet at an early age; instruments that his father introduced to him and often played for him at home. His parents' large and varied LP collection became a tresure trove for him in his early years. He got his first CD, Michael Jackson's "History" as a birthday present when he turned 10 - a record that still affects him today. "I had heard MJ before; my parents had the "Bad"album in their LP collection, but there is something extra special about getting your own first album. I listened to that record until it almost broke! The expression, arrangements, and the urgent lyrics – it all affected me greatly. I still put Michael as the most important influence in my music making; even though the music I write today might be far from the music he created. He will always be there as a strong influence and a role-model. " One day when his guitar teacher showed him the basics of the blues, Eric Clapton and improvisation on the guitar Jacob’s attitude towards music was drastically changed. "I still remember it very vividly; the day my music teacher told me to "use these five notes and play whatever you feel like playing." What did he mean by that? Could it really be OK to play whatever you want, whenever you want? Is that even legal?! Before that all I had played was sheet music on the trumpet. Learning about improvisation opened up a whole new world for me, and that was when I began to feel that this was something I wanted to devote myself to wholeheartedly. " After primary school, Jacob attended Södra Latins Gymnasium (a famous music college in Stockholm) where he studied the guitar with a focus on jazz. He went on to study music at RML (the Rock Musician college) in Stockholm and that’s where he first heard about John Mayer; an artist who would prove to have a great impact on Jacob and his music. "When I heard John Mayer for the first time, I was immediately hooked. This was during a time when I played guitar in a lot of different constellations and was searching for my own voice as a musician. Mayer showed me that it’s still possible today being a guitarist AND being successful in the music industry. He made me believe in myself and in staying true to the music that I want to create. I am very grateful for the music he’s written; without it - I don’t think I would have the courage to be writing my own music today". Mainly only being a guitar player up to this point; Jacob would now move his focus to writing his own songs and performing them. "Lyrics have always been extremely important to me and I felt there was much I wanted to get off my chest. Writing songs became a sort of therapy for me; a way to process my thoughts and concerns in a constructive way. I also realized that the music that appealed to me the most was the music by artists who wrote honest lyrics and really meant every word that they sang. That was the kind of artist I felt I needed to be, and with that I went back to the pop music and blues from my childhood years. " During the last years Jacob has played continuously in most of the venues in Stockholm including Fasching, Kungsträdgården, Nalen, Debaser, Mosebacke, Klubben etc - with his own music as well as a guitar player in other bands. He has also appeared on a few studio albums; including Ace of Base's latest record "The Golden Ratio" (2010) where he plays the guitar. In January 2012 Jacob digitally released his debut EP ".. about hearts"; recieving high praise from colleagues and friends alike. He is currently studying his last semester at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. "This is what I want to do. Playing my own music with talented musicians is the best feeling in the world. I hope that the EP-release will provide a good foundation for my future music making - and I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it!"
