简介
A Romney St. survivor, Charleston,SC legend Killa Skip is one of the most if not the most lyrical heartfelt rhyme-sayer in the game today. With his homegrown Geechie/Gullah sound that is usually hard to understand, Killa Skip blends it perfectly with "plain English" so that the world can feel his pain. At the age of 9, he use to beat-box for Double Crossa and DNS in their grandmother "DeDe's" upstairs hallway and be their judge while they battle rap. From then, he fell in love with the art of Hip Hop. He recorded his 1st track "Ya'll Don't Want None" on Twin D1st Century's Vol. 1 Compilation. It had the streets literally going like "who is this"!! Motivated by his peers, family, and a mission to overcome his struggle Killa Skip kept putting in work. While featuring on every Charleston-based rapper's projects who were trying to do something, he was given the nickname "The Feature Presentation". For his memorable verses were quote, unquote bar for bar(meaning every line said or meant something). In 2008, his grandfather "Smick" a.k.a the Kingfish passed away. Then in 2009, his grandmother DeDe died of a massive stroke leaving the up and coming star depressed and emotionally scarred. Totally giving up the street life, he focused working on his new project "II FRIGID". He called it "II FRIGID" because he felt his lyrics are bi-polar & too cold. He also attached KINGFISH to his name so his grand-daddy Smick's legacy would live on. With a major response from the streets and his fans they gave the "II FRIGID" mixtape, I mean mingle tape as Killa Skip would say. 5 mics!!! Still remaining humble and hungry Killa Skip is determine to make the world see, hear, taste , and feel his struggles. In 2011 , with his 3rd solo project "THE CASKET ACT" in the streets, Da KINGFISH became a household name!! Some say this is his best work yet so far. THE CASKET ACT MINGLE TAPE went on to win Album of the Year at the 2012 Geechee One Awards & was labelled a Port City classic. In August 2013, Killa Skip da Kingfish made his most powerful move yet. Hooking up with 5 of the most underrated, up & coming, hit making artist from Charleston,SC (Backboy Sav, Yarda, Leezy, Ken, Raw Young Jit) to form the SC's most talked about group "Da Cartel" ... With a major street buzz behind them & 3 weeks of studio time, Da Cartel put out until this day the best album that ever came out of SC (a str8 Monsterpiece) .. "The R.I.C.O. Act" with Hits like the "Feds on Us" , "Get Ya Mind Right" , "Bonnie & Clyde" to name a few. Had the critics calling them the next Geto Boys & Hots Boys of the South & opened doors for the whole Cartel "RICO Act" Movement. With Da Cartel still buzzing thru the streets Killa Skip decided to put out his highly anticipated "Crab Life" (Welcome 2 da ChumBucket) . With a 20 song fan- pleaser, Da Kingfish portrayed his lyricism , unthinkable concepts, & his storytelling ability to his full potential. Also blending in his so called Chum Language (Da Geechee Lingo) over all produced Charleston,SC tracks designed to give the world something they "never heard", something they "never can duplicate", & "a lingo they wouldn't understand" unless they were born & raise in da Charleo. With the whole City Behind him & his music, Killa Skip Da Kingfish "Crab Life" album is most likely going to put da Chuck on the map & blow this Gullah/Geechee culture to the music industry forefront.
