In a desperate search for warmth in the Boston winter of 2010-2011, a few friends – some old, some new – came together to see what would happen when they brought all their musical tastes, talents and trinkets into the same room. What started as a jam in a Cambridge living room has led to a recently released debut album, 'Shake' and a tour across America to perform at this year's South By Southwest Festival. With five minds and five million ideas, the result is Friendly People – folk-infused indie rock, hand-crafted to make you feel at home. In a matter of months after their formation, Friendly People released their debut self-titled EP, distributed for free at venues around the Northeast and on the web. Since then, the band has focused on polishing old material, writing new songs and exposing as many people as possible to their unique, dynamic folk rock sound - a sound that can feel like a warm embrace in one instant and a backhand to the face in the next. In 2011, Friendly People performed extensively in the greater Boston area, New York, Maryland, Connecticut and Rhode Island. On the heels of the success of their debut EP, the band completed a self booked August 2012 East Coast Tour and released their full length debut, entitled 'Shake' on December 13, 2012. The record was produced, engineered, and mixed by Friendly People. Since the release of ‘Shake, the local and national blogosphere has been swift in recognizing Friendly People's success and potential.
