简介

John is a musician and songwriter from Northern California. He has playing music for audiences throughout the US and Europe for the past 14 years. "Vertizontal" is his latest release and his fifth album. It is also his most aggressive and powerful album to date. According to John, "This is the rock worship album I have always wanted to make--crank-it-up-and-throw-your-hands-in-the-air worship music. This is the kind of music I love to play live. This is a rock and roll offering." If you read the liner notes on the album, it gives you a good peek into John's headspace and what was going on during the two years of writing he did for this album. He started writing some of these songs during the recording of the "Mystery" album (his last release, 2001). About the lyrical content John says, "Over the last one to two years, I have learned more about contentment, pride, honesty, dealing with anger, hurt, frustration, bitterness and surrender than I have in the last ten years. There is a lot behind these lyrics. If I had to sum this album up in one word, it would be "freedom." God wants us to respond to Him. Period. Wherever, whenever, and however through whatever. Some of these songs are a response to God through my pain. Some through intoxicating joy. I felt an incredible freedom in responding like this-in this style. This is where the title-"vertizontal" comes from. This is coloring-outside-the-lines worship." Interesting tidbits and tech info-99% of the songs were recorded at Amber Glow Studio in Vancouver, WA. John recorded in Pro-Tools. Craig Alvin, once again, engineered with grace and authority. Craig also played all the bass on the album. Pat Tetreault played guitar and synth and produced. Andy Uppendahl played drums. Drew Grow added some BGV's. Pat, Andy, and Drew are all former Five O'Clock People members and currently are putting out some of the best music ever with their new band, "Careen." (go to www.careen.net) Gabriel Wilson of "The Rock and Roll Worship Circus" drummed on two tracks and former RRWS guitarist Chris Greeley (aka "Solo") added some guitar wizardry. (go to www.worshipcircus.com) Friends Michael Hill, Greg Hall, Kelly Jones, and Andrew Gurevich all played parts in making it special. IF you are looking for fresh, inspiring, memorable, singable, danceable music . . . you just found it!
