简介
Matthew Price is a songwriter from Nashville, Tennessee. His music combines elements of Americana, rock, folk, and country. His down-to-earth, honest, and often funny lyrics are reminiscent of John Prine and his acoustic style and soulful singing draw comparisons to Josh Ritter, Jason Mraz , Jack Johnson, and the Avett Brothers. Born the son of a Christian youth camp director in the little town of Silverton, Oregon, Matthew learned to play guitar with familiar camp songs and the cowboy songs of Marty Robbins and Doc Watson. With these influences along with other rock musicians such as Ben Harper, Matthew began writing music and developing his own sound. In 2010, he independently released his debut album, "Stranded", and that first year, the album sold several thousand copies out of an old suitcase at live shows and online. It also received radio play in the Northwest on stations including KINK 101.9 FM, and KBOO 90.7 FM in Portland, (NPR) KLCC 89.7 FM in Eugene, and KMUZ 88.5 FM in Salem. The album gained positive reviews by both fans and critics. In 2012, Matthew joined with vocalist and violinist, Christiana Zollner, and released a second CD titled, Gallon House. This project is built around witty and sweet duets and acoustic instruments, namely Matt’s guitar, Christiana’s violin. In the summer of 2012, Christiana relocated to the east coast. In July of 2014, Matthew relocated to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue his songwriting career. This coincided with his first solo release since the Gallon House album, titled “Love or Bust”. This was followed in the Fall by “U R Loved”, a song that Matthew wrote for a promotional video for “Love Bottle” a boutique glass water bottle company. Press: “Matthew Price is becoming somewhat of a folk icon in Oregon’s Willamette Valley through some very strong songwriting”, states Marc Albert of Salem’s KMUZ 88.5FM. “I’m knocked out by the quality of the poetics.
